Ursa Major, Russia, Amfora, 2010URSA MAJOR by Max Frei is a dreamlike J.L.Borges-like fantasy travel book about the miracles that penetrate everyday reality and that we generally take absolutely no notice of. In Frei’s world all narrator’s unrealized fantasies became real, and all twists of his imagination come to life.

A Tourism and travel is perhaps the most common way to escape a routine of  everyday life. Avoiding the beaten tourist routes, Max Frei has created a travel plan of his own: superposing the map of Ursa Major constellation over the map of modern  United Europe, Max visited all localities whose position corresponds to all its 22 stars. A true adept of the Random numbers theory, Frei claims that the door leading into a parallel realities is open wide for anyone who believe in chance and is attentive enough to what is happening around him.

Novel’s protagonists are ordinary people, just like you and I. All of them are more or less successful in their lives, though lack some tiny detail to make their life complete and feel that it has sense. By a lucky chance all of them get into a right place at the right time to witness a miracle: old friends come back, lost loves return, fantasies and dreams come true.

The message of Frei’s book is clear: the world around us and the life itself are more joyful and magical when one dare to feel.
